Carrerai ("we", "our", or "us") operates the carrerai.app website and the Carrerai Chrome extension (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use our Service:

• Account information: Your email address and password (handled securely via Firebase Authentication).
• Resume data: The text content of resumes you upload for AI analysis. Resume text is processed in-memory and stored in your browser's local storage and in your private Firestore user document.
• Job application data: Job titles, company names, URLs, status, dates, and notes you enter in the job tracker. This data is stored locally in your browser and backed up to your private Firestore collection.
• Saved content: AI-generated cover letters, interview prep, and analysis results you choose to save.
• Usage data: The number of AI calls made (for enforcing plan limits). We do not track browsing history, keystrokes, or any activity on LinkedIn beyond job card data visible on the page.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To process your resume using AI (Google Gemini API) and return job-matching scores, cover letters, and interview prep materials.
• To manage your account and subscription.
• To enforce usage limits based on your plan.
• To communicate important updates about the Service.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): For authentication, database (Firestore), and hosting. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
• Google Gemini API: For AI-powered resume analysis, cover letter generation, and interview preparation. Resume text and job descriptions are sent to Google's servers for processing. See Google AI Terms.
• PayPal: For processing subscription payments. We do not store your payment details. See PayPal Privacy Policy.

4. Chrome Extension Data

The Carrerai Chrome extension operates on LinkedIn job pages. It:

• Reads job card information (title, company, description) visible on the current LinkedIn page to calculate match scores against your uploaded resume.
• Does not collect, transmit, or store your LinkedIn credentials, messages, connections, or any data from non-job pages.
• Stores your resume data and authentication tokens in Chrome's local storage on your device.
• Communicates with our servers only for authentication, AI processing, and data backup.

5. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored in Google Cloud (Firestore) under your private, authenticated user document.
• Local data is stored in your browser's localStorage and Chrome extension storage.
• All API communications use HTTPS encryption.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings section of your dashboard. When you delete your account:

• Your Firestore user document and all sub-collections (applications, saved content) are permanently deleted.
• Your Firebase Authentication account is removed.
• Local browser data can be cleared by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser storage.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (see above).
• Withdraw consent at any time by discontinuing use of the Service.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
